The National Investment Center for the Seniors Housing & Care Industry (NIC), a non-profit 501(c)3 organization whose mission is to facilitate informed investment decision making, is seeking a Research Director to manage all activities and staff relating to NIC and NIC MAP research. NIC MAP is the seniors housing & care industry's leading data provider, tracking revenue, occupancy, supply and construction data in America's top 100 metro markets. NIC MAP's database includes over 12,300 market rate seniors housing and nursing care properties.
ResponsibilitiesThe Research Director should be a self starter and strong leader who thrives in organizations with multiple stakeholders. The position will oversee a smart, driven staff of analysts with expertise in econometrics, statistics and data analyses. Based in Annapolis, MD, the Research Director will be a member of NIC’s senior management team, and will work closely with the NIC President, VP of NIC MAP, and NIC’s volunteer leadership. Specific responsibilities include:
· To develop, implement and manage the overall research plan for NIC and NIC MAP including aligning NIC’s research objectives with NIC’s mission.
· To drive NIC’s research mission and policies by working with and collaborating with NIC’s Board of Directors, senior leadership and senior staff.
· To effectively manage, mentor, and develop the research staff.
· To develop and oversee all research related relationships with outside organizations including other industry associations, university based research teams, economic organizations, think tanks and other data providers.
· To continue developing and refining all research related items with regard to the NIC MAP businessline. This includes overseeing the development and reporting of all data collection procedures/methods, metrics and analyses of data.
· To represent NIC at industry and real estate conferences, press events and with NIC constituents. This position will be offered many opportunities to speak at various conferences.
· To work extensively with the NIC MAP database, including directing and developing procedures for data queries and working with data.
· To oversee all quantitative and qualitative analyses produced and disseminated by NIC. This includes all econometric based work as well as written analyses of seniors housing markets.
Position Requirements· 5+ years demonstrated leadership in directing and growing an organizational research effort, includingthe development, mentorship, and management of staff.
· Experience in managing multiple projects and interfacing with multiple stakeholders, both internal and external. Experience with boards of directors is highly preferred.
· Knowledge of the real estate industry and macroeconomics, with experience with various real estate databases preferred.Experience building complex statistical analyses and forecasting models; proficiency with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint and statistical software packages such as Stata, E-Views, or SAS.
· Superior analytical, written and presentation skills. Experience interfacing with the media is highly preferred.
