Job Description - CONSTRUCTION MANAGER

Location: Chiriqui, Panama

Summary:

Amble Resorts is seeking a Construction Manager to coordinate construction of The Resort at Isla Palenque, a medium-sized resort development off the Pacific coast of Panama, targeting active, affluent, and adventurous North Americans. This person will be responsible for all aspects of construction management and jobsite coordination, and will need to live on site in Chiriqui, Panama.

Responsibilities:

The person hired for this position will be in charge of all aspects of construction of the project, from initial infrastructure to final punchlist details, and responsible for day-to-day management of the construction site. Continuously moving the project forward according to schedule and within the budget is the hallmark of successful construction management, and the successful construction manager will be capable of balancing multiple concerns and subcontractors in every decision.

The Construction Manager will:

• Assist in the development of the systems and infrastructure required for the complex logistics associated with island construction
• Help in the selection of general contractors and/or subcontractors, including finding appropriate companies, bidding the work, negotiating contracts, and enforcing performance
• Develop construction schedules and perform critical path and other analyses to ensure viability of the schedule and ongoing adherence to it
• Assemble construction draws and send to developer and lenders for approval
• Oversee day-to-day construction activities, with direct control over (and responsibility for) the performance of all general and/or subcontractors involved

Requirements:

The ideal candidate possesses:

• A university degree
• Three or more years of construction management experience on complex projects
• Three or more years of hands-on construction experience
• Fluency, or near fluency, in verbal and written Spanish
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• An entrepreneurial spirit and desire to learn
• Desire to live in a foreign country

Reports to: Project Manager

Salary: Depends on experience, with significant incentives based on job and project performance
