Position Summary     

                                                              

Directs the establishment and maintenance of the organization's accounting principles, practices, and procedures for the maintenance of its fiscal records and the preparation of its financial reports.  Directs general and property accounting, financial accounting, payroll, employee benefits and budgetary control.  Appraises operating results in terms of costs, budgets, operating policies, trends, and increased profit opportunities.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

 

  • Develop, implement and enforce accounting policies and procedures
  • Establish, maintain and document strong internal control processes
  • Maintain financial books and records in accordance with GAAP and company policies
  • Provide accurate, timely and high quality financial reporting services to senior management, investors and statutory authorities; ensures monthly financial results accurately portray current operations and activities
  • Prepare routine and ad hoc financial analyses
  • Maintain banking and financial institution relationships
  • Assist in the corporate annual budget process, including monthly reports of budget versus actual with updated year-and projections
  • Manage external audit process
  • Ensure adequacy of existing financial controls and implement new procedures where necessary
  • Prepare and file tax returns; ensure compliance with applicable regulatory and taxing agencies
  • Supervise accounts payable, employee benefits and employee payroll function
  • Coordinates, supervises and directs outside accounting firm
  • Other duties as assigned

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

 

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting. CPA license preferred
  • Minimum six (6) years of accounting experience with emphasis on real estate operations, with at least 3 years of management responsibility.
  • Demonstrated experience of meeting deadlines and balancing multiple priorities.
  • Considerable knowledge of accounting standards, practices and procedures.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment, have excellent organizational skills, and attention to detail.
  • Strong computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
