University of Alabama's Real Estate studies are housed in the Culverhouse College of Commerce Department of Economics Finance and Legal Studies. The program is affiliated with the Alabama Center for Real Estate (ACRE) whose Guiding Principles -- Dissemination and interpretation of new knowledge; Real estate forecasting; Real estate research; Provision of data resources and publications; and Student support -- greatly enhance the experience. The Center is a catalyst for providing interaction with alumni and acts as an intermediary for students pursuing a career in real estate.
Undergraduate RE Spcialization (four 3-credit courses) is available to all Culverhouse College of Commerce & Business Administration students (Marketing Management Finance MIS Accounting Economics). After successfully passing only TWO real estate courses a student becomes eligible to sit for the Alabama Real Estate Salesperson License Exam passing which allows students to begin their real estate career while still in school.The Master's Real Estate Track is designed to provide students interested in real estate related careers with a rigorous background in real estate fundamentals including real estate finance valuation real estate taxation and investment analysis. Students will also be introduced to property management and land use and development concepts in order to support multiple career development paths.
