The real estate program, part of the Department of Finance, is offered at the undergraduate (B.S.) and graduate (M.B.A., and Ph.D.) levels. An undergraduate student may pursue the major in Finance with a specialization in Real Estate after being admitted to the College of Business. The undergraduate real estate program has been ranked in the top ten (5th to 8th) in universities within the United States each year since real estate programs have been separately ranked by the U.S. New & World Report in their rankings of "Best Colleges".
The goal of the undergraduate program is to prepare students for problem solving roles in such areas as appraisal, brokerage, development, finance and corporate real estate. The graduate program is directed toward advanced concepts and methodology useful in consulting, research, and teaching in the various applications of real estate and urban economics
One course is offered strictly for undergraduate students; three courses are offered strictly for graduate students; and six courses are offered that may be taken by both undergraduate and graduate students. These courses range from both undergraduate and graduate level introductory/fundamentals real estate courses to intermediate level courses such as real estate valuation, investments, law, and development to more advanced courses such as the Ph.D. level seminar course.
