Position Summary: This is a full-time professional position with main supervisory and management responsibility for a college/university residential custodial operation. General responsibilities include: supervision of direct line supervisors who in turn manage a group of employees; ensuring the overall cleanliness of all residential areas (student rooms, lounge areas, kitchens, hallways, stairwells, laundry rooms, entrances, and offices) and departmental offices and work areas; monitors work order system and room and common area damage billing plan; develops training pertinent to the job; and researches and recommends for purchase appropriate cleaning chemicals and equipment. Supervisory responsibilities will focus on hiring, training, evaluating, and general oversight of the custodial unit. This position will work collaboratively with other units in the Campus Living department to provide a positive and safe living and working environment.
Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree. Three years of management and supervisory experience of a custodial or building services department at a college/university or hospital is required. Demonstrable effective communication skills and an awareness and understanding of interpersonal and work life balance issues and their impact on the morale and productivity of employees is necessary.
Preferred Qualifications: More than three years of experience at a large, public university. Experience would include management of a unionized custodial department.
