TIAA-CREF is seeking an analytically strong individual with 3-5 years of real estate finance experience who is eager to pursue an opportunity to progress on the Real Estate Finance team. The right individual must have a strong command of real estate financial analysis, including Excel cash flow modeling and an understanding of capital markets, as well as solid critical thinking and communications skills to be successful. Preferably the successful candidate will have exposure to Argus.

The position provides an opportunity to work in a high profile, dynamic and creative environment in an institution with a long history of commercial real estate investing. The Ideal candidate will have underwriting experience in core and/or value add investment strategies on behalf of a banking institution that pursues investments in short term, floating or fixed rate loans, secured by all real estate product types, including student housing, senior housing, hotels, multifamily, retail, industrial, and office.


  • Perform financial analysis and transaction support for placing new debt and refinancing existing debt on TIAA properties.
  • Provide analytic support to senior capital markets professionals, including discounted cash flows, financial and credit analyses of properties, locations, markets, borrowers and other due diligence.
  • Coordinate and help manage the debt closing process.
  • Generate documentation including credit committee presentations, loan applications, commitments and other associated documents.
  • Assist with the coordination of the borrowing process with Portfolio Management and other functional areas within the Company.
  • Some travel may be required.


  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Real Estate or Economics. Other majors considered depending on experience.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years’ experience with a real-estate related organization.
  • Strong financials/quantitative and critical thinking skills.


  • Proficient in Argus, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Self-starter who is willing to work independently.
  • Well organized and able to balance multiple and diverse priorities while delivering quality product.
