Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field; five years of progressively responsible experience in civil engineering or construction management; and a minimum of two years lead/supervision experience preferred; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.

Specific License or Certification Required: Must possess and maintain a valid Georgia driver's license.

Specific Knowledge, Skills, or Abilities: Must demonstrate considerable knowledge in construction and project management related to civil engineering and public infrastructure. Must be able to demonstrate proficiency in performance of the essential functions and learn, comprehend, and apply all county or departmental policies, practices, and procedures necessary to function effectively in the position.

Purpose of Classification:

The purpose of this class is to execute all phases of multi-faceted construction, maintenance, or rehabilitation projects for City infrastructure and facilities from inception to completion (programming, planning, design, bids & contract award, and construction). Employees in this classification perform in a capacity similar to Project Managers, but require a higher level of project management skills and are typically assigned projects that are larger in scope; have a higher degree of technical complexity; and/or have a high degree of visibility where public relations and public perception are considered to be of critical importance to the City. Construction Project Manager, Seniors may serve as a supervisor and/or mentors and lead workers to project managers or other section personnel, and often provide internal consultation to City projects and operations as a subject-matter expert in a specialized field. Construction Project Manager, Seniors either perform the essential tasks of this position or coordinate the work of others (in house or contractual), depending on the needs of the specific project.
