Newmark Knight Frank’s Debt and Structured Finance Team is a debt and equity capital markets team that sources financing for investments being acquired/refinanced/recapitalized by varying client buckets. The Team ultimately sources capital from foreign and domestic balance sheet lenders, CMBS lenders, mezzanine lenders and debt fund/equity investors, as well as marketing and facilitating loan/note sales.


This position will support the senior partners of a high-profile, growing Debt & Equity Capital Markets team with both quantitative and qualitative analyses, entailing heavy Argus and Excel modeling/underwriting, property due-diligence, market research and preparation of offering materials.  

Job Responsibilities:

  • Apply knowledge of the financial markets and real estate lending to source, negotiate and close optimal financing
  • Structure financing packages, and build capital stacks in order to attract the most favorable financing across all asset types (multifamily, office, retail, hotel, industrial, construction etc.)
  • Interact with borrowing entities to understand an asset’s business plan, strategize financing objectives and fulfill lender diligence requests
  • Leverage banking and financing relationships with existing and new lending institutions and call upon them regularly
  • Review loan documents to provide consistent documentation, maximum flexibility and maximum protection
  • Develop effective and collaborative working relationships with the firm’s Leasing and Investment Sales professionals
Required Skill Set:
  • Bachelor’s Degree from a top-tier school with a major in Business, Accounting, Finance, Real Estate, Engineering, Economics or related field 
  • *Required: 2–4 years of experience in commercial real estate debt underwriting (banks, non-bank lenders, debt funds, real estate debt advisors/brokers), real estate investment banking or real estate private equity
  • Experience with senior, bridge and mezzanine debt
  • Solid understanding of the capital markets / CMBS
  • Team player, collaborative, strong relationship-building skills
  • Self-starter with the ability to multi-task on multiple complex assignments
  • Strong sense of urgency and an ability to work well under pressure is crucial
  • *Superb attention to detail
