Director of Facilities

Location: San Francisco or Los Angeles preferred; highly qualified applicants will be considered for the Bank’s other locations; moderate to significant travel will be required depending on location (see qualifications below)

As the Director of Facilities, you will be responsible for the District’s facilities located in San Francisco, Los Angeles, Phoenix, Seattle, Salt Lake City, and Portland including facility planning, design and management to include new constructions and renovation projects, building systems maintenance and operations , tenant and customer relations, and associated facility expense and capital budget forecasting.

Your skills and expertise as a customer-focused strategic leader, collaborator and influencer are key to managing the various areas in Facilities at both the District and System levels. As the Director, you will be tasked with working with your team to identify opportunities to improve and simplify processes for management and staff, resulting in greater strategic value to the Bank.  In addition, you will set a positive tone for your areas of responsibility, demonstrating a commitment to the Bank’s mission and our aspiration to build a OneBank culture.    

 

Highlights of Responsibilities:

Ensure that building environments are safe and that the District’s physical assets are maintained. 

  • Provide guidance and oversight to ensure that Planning provides cost effective, forward-looking design solutions, space planning support, and project management services Districtwide.
  • Foster, develop and maintain strong relationships with District engineering management and staff, providing oversight of business practices to ensure comfortable, safe and reliable building environments.
  • Provide oversight to the District’s custodial contracts ensuring buildings and the grounds are cleaned and maintained in a manner that creates an inviting and comfortable working environment.
  • Provide oversight for all elements of tenant relations including acquiring brokerage services, lease negotiations, build-out, tenant improvements and tenant management.
  • Ensure expense budgets and long-term capital plans meet the strategic needs of Facilities and the Bank.
  • Ensure that staff are trained in, and are using, state-of-the-art project and operations management practices.

  • Represent the Bank and demonstrate leadership and influence at the District and System level by building relationships, and collaborating on or leading efforts to develop, recommend and implement significant initiatives.
  • May also participate in industry and professional organizations outside the System in support of Facilities. 

 

Qualifications:

  • At least 10 years of business management experience in positions of increasing responsibility with at least five years of management leading major projects/initiatives. Technical experience in facilities, space planning and/or building operations including associated certifications is a plus.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Business or similar field of study.
  • Dynamic leadership skills and presence, strong interpersonal and teambuilding skills.
  • Exceptional written communication skills and demonstrated ability to deliver compelling verbal communications on complex topics clearly and with confidence.
  • Demonstrated ability to interact with all levels of employees from operations to leaders and executives, both internally and externally to the Bank.
  • Strong negotiation, facilitation and influencing skills.
  • Strong business acumen with a proven ability to evaluate the costs, risks and benefits associated with alternative actions before making decisions.
  • Intellectually curious and nimble, with strong analytical skills and the demonstrated ability to learn, synthesize and apply a range of information and experience quickly in new situations and settings.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills to manage competing and dynamic priorities, and multiple concurrent activities.
  • Outstanding people manager, with inspirational leadership skills. Proven ability to coach, lead, and develop others to achieve their professional best.
  • Exceptional collaboration skills with an ability to partner effectively with others in the pursuit of common goals.
  • Exhibit the highest levels of personal and professional integrity at all times.
  • Ability and willingness to travel domestically 35% annually if located in SF or LA and 50% annually if located in one of the Bank’s other locations required.
