Then, the Mayor's Executive Leadership Program may the right decision for you. This internship offers juniors and seniors the opportunity to meet the County’s leadership and get a first-hand look at County government.
Through structured workshops and professional mentoring from senior management, students will learn county governance and will participate in organized practical projects that match their educational objectives. The program’s ultimate goal is to prepare and develop strong future leaders for our county’s municipal governments, but it will also better position students for future job opportunities.
This program runs begins in the spring to accommodate your schedule. For 12-15 weeks and 20-25 hours per week, you will have the opportunity to be engaged in meaningful work which includes three components:
Mentoring –You will be mentored by senior management. You will select three preferred areas of interest in Miami-Dade County and be assigned to a department while accommodating for your academic schedule.
Seminars- You will have the opportunity to attend weekly executive seminars that will provide you with an overview of the County and governmental affairs.
Lastly, a Team Project- You will be assigned to a separate team project to work together and explore possibilities and propose solutions to ongoing County issues. At the end of the 15 week period, you and your peers will present your recommendations to senior management, school officials and Miami-Dade County leadership.
