Surrey City Development Corporation (SCDC) was incorporated in 2007 to assist in realizing and advancing the transformation of the City of Surrey into a more modern, vibrant, sustainable and complete community. Through its real estate development activities, SCDC enables the City to achieve strategic community objectives by optimizing the use and value of city owned lands, leveraging civic facilities, and encouraging private sector development in Surrey.
With a new CEO in place, a strategic planning process underway, a potential development pipeline of over $4 billion in assets and strong demand for development in the region, SCDC is at an exciting time in its history. The organization is now seeking a new Vice President, Development & Investments to help lead this small but dynamic organization and help shape the future of one of Canada’s fastest growing municipalities.
Reporting to the President & CEO, the VP Development & Investment is responsible for the leadership and management of the development, planning and investment functions of SCDC. With a mandate to deliver impactful projects and value for its shareholder, the City of Surrey, the VP will have a chance to work on a diverse range of projects and across a variety of asset types. He/she will provide guidance, oversight and mentorship to a growing development team that provides day-to-day management over the SCDC projects. In addition, the VP will participate as part of the senior management team in establishing the strategic direction of the organization which will include identifying new development, investment and partnership opportunities that will have a positive impact on the city.
The ideal candidate will be a broad real estate professional with a proven track record delivering on high calibre development, investment and partnership projects. In addition to real estate expertise, SCDC is seeking a strategic leader capable of coaching, guiding, organizing and mentoring a committed team. In this environment, the VP must be able to balance the need to be agile and drive for results, with the need for reporting, shareholder involvement and due process.
For someone who is passionate about city building, leadership and making an impact, this is a tremendous opportunity to work on interesting, diverse and complex projects that will create a proud and lasting legacy for the City of Surrey and its residents for generations to come.
