Associate - Acquisitions and Asset Management

Privately owned real estate owner/operator seeking a dynamic Associate for its Los Angeles office. Primary responsibilities include underwriting of new acquisition opportunities and asset management of existing assets.  The successful candidate will have 2-5 years of directly relevant experience and excellent critical thinking skills.  Problem-solving, goal-oriented self-starters who can thrive and be highly productive with limited oversight will have excellent advancement potential as there is consistent interaction with firm principals.


Experience and Qualifications:

  • Undergraduate degree in finance, real estate, or a related discipline
  • 2-5 years of experience as an analyst or associate for a real estate investment firm, investment bank, or other similar organization with meaningful experience in asset management and problem solving
  • Exceptional analytical and critical thinking skills along with excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Outstanding financial modeling skills, with demonstrated experience in building complex financial models in Excel from scratch
  • Direct experience in preparing comprehensive investment memoranda and making investment recommendations
  • Ability to work independently with limited supervision and a goal-oriented disposition with a high degree of determination to complete assignments promptly, find solutions, and add value
  • Outstanding organizational skills, a detail-oriented nature, and ability to multi-task
  • Ability to work efficiently and accurately under pressure and in a fast-paced environment
  • Mastery of Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Word
  • High level of proficiency with Argus



Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform market research and analysis for potential acquisition opportunities
  • Develop financial models and perform detailed financial analysis of acquisition targets with logical, detailed support for all underwriting assumptions including operations
  • Prepare comprehensive investment memoranda and asset management strategy recommendations for presentation and discussion with firm principals
  • Lead acquisition due diligence and closing activities
  • Interact smoothly and successfully with both internal staff and outside contacts
  • Perform analysis to support on-going asset management activities, such as optimization of operations, asset repositioning, refinancing, and disposition
