We are growing and have an immediate opportunity for an Controller in our Bethesda, MD office. In this newly created position, you will enjoy the satisfaction and challenge of playing a key role in the daily financial activities of the organization, developing positive long-term business relationships and providing critical support to management of the business. The successful candidate will bring leadership and vision to all aspects of accounting. You will have a direct impact in developing the culture of our organization and get to be part of building something meaningful with excellent growth potential.
Manage the accounting department activities for accurate and timely dissemination of financial management reports including, but not limited to, monthly financial statements, annual audits and annual budgets.
Prepare quarterly and annual investment reports and financial statements for submittal to investors.
Manage accounts receivable activities to ensure the accurate and timely management of all accounts receivable aging components including billings, cash receipts application; weekly funding reports, monthly, quarterly and year-end payroll closing including federal and state reports; and bank reconciliations.
Manage disbursement activities to ensure accurate and timely processing of accounts payable, purchase orders, credit cards, payroll processing and payroll tax compliance.
Manage income tax compliance to assure the accurate and timely completion of all company income tax returns taking full advantage of all favorable tax codes.
Review records of accounts to ensure accuracy.
Establish and maintain systems and controls that verify the integrity of all systems, processes and data, and enhance the company’s value.
Proficiency with Accounting Software Systems; RealPage or Yardi preferred.
Who are you:
We are looking for a high energy, self-motivated person who is very organized and able to multi-task. Must be able to thrive in a fast-paced, growing environment. You will have the capacity to drive technical excellence, while supporting the development of practical business processes and solutions. Ascent Real Estate Partners is looking for someone with a background in businesses subject to complex accounting process including audits, taxes, and credits/debits. The ideal candidate will be detail oriented and have strong organizational and relationship building skills. Must have 5+ years of progressive accounting experience. A mix of experience as an auditor for a regional consulting company, experience as a senior accountant in a private company, and/or experience with real estate private equity and/or property management business environments is preferred. CPA is preferred.
