THE ROLE:

We are seeking a Chief Accounting Officer to join our team. The candidate would oversee all aspects of property and fund level accounting for a growing portfolio of assets throughout Los Angeles. They would work internally and externally to create, update, and communicate financial and accounting information across the platform. The qualified candidate will join a team that is entrepreneurial and growing rapidly. Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • AP/AR in Yardi
  • Reconciliations
  • Recording cash receipts and making bank deposits
  • Quarterly and year-end tax and financial reporting
  • Ensure property level activity is recorded, reviewed and approved in a timely manner to meet monthly and quarterly reporting deadlines
  • Act as a point of contact for Asset Management and property managers for all accounting related matters on assigned investment properties
  • Work with third party administrators to complete year-end audits
  • Assist with the annual budget
  • Handle all ad-hoc information requests from investors, investment professionals, and senior management
  • Set up new investment vehicles by coordinating with multiple parties
  • Recording of all investment activity into accounting software (Yardi)
  • Analysis and processing of investor capital contributions and capital calls
  • Calculation and administration of monthly investor reporting and distributions

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Accounting or Finance
  • CPA required, MBA preferred
  • 8+ years’ experience in commercial real estate accounting, including at a public accounting firm
  • Flexible and friendly personality
  • Able to communicate clearly and effectively to all levels internally and externally
  • Strong work ethic and drive to work independently and with a team
  • High level of proficiency in Yardi and Microsoft Office, Excel in particular
  • Extremely detail- and deadline-oriented
