The Position and Its Responsibilities:

As TerraCotta embarks on its growth strategy, there is an excellent opportunity for exceptional loan originators and leaders to become a part of that growth by contributing to it. The position will be based in the following locations: Dallas, Denver, San Francisco, Seattle, and Los Angeles. The Regional Director of Loan Origination is a significant position within the firm that will have overall responsibility for loan production within that region. The firm has ambitious growth plans – an efficient, effective, and prolific origination machine plays an important part in meeting those objectives. The Regional Director of Loan Origination is expected to work with a high level of independence, making significant impact in developing and growing of the regional office. The successful hire will


  • report to the firm’s Founder and President directly;
  • Initially be responsible for the production of bridge loans in the range of $5 million-$20 million within the region. Over time, it is expected that you will be responsible for sourcing loans and opportunities for all of the firm’s products, including permanent CRE loans, mezzanine debt, preferred equity, and distressed loan investment;
  • Play a key leadership role in growing the presence of the regional office;
  • Develop and maintain strong long-term relationships with mortgage brokers, CRE property owners and investors, and throughout the CRE loan community;
  • Leverage the firm’s deep relationships with the banking community, nurtured over the years through thought leadership, prior contacts at the highest levels through stewardship of SAMA, and efforts of the advisory board to build formal partnership origination programs with banks
  • Provide valuable insights and ideas on how to improve processes and products;
  • Participate in marketing, services, product, and many other functions; and help develop and optimize the origination machine for the region;
  • Be an advocate for a consultative origination process, understanding and anticipating borrower needs, and structuring loans from the point of view of solving sponsor’s pain points;
  • work closely with the underwriting team to size, underwrite, negotiate, structure, and price CRE loans; and prepare and present investment packages for internal credit approval;



  • 5-7+ years of experience in CRE loan originations
  • Track record of significant personal loan origination achievement
  • Demonstrated ability or potential in leading a top-notch team of the Regional office; desire to grow with the firm and to call it the professional home
  • Entrepreneurial mindset, strong work ethics, intellectual honesty, sharp intellect, and an aspiration to make an impact
  • Willingness to be challenged, to learn, work hard, adapt, and to work in a fast-paced, sophisticated, and data-driven environment
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Bachelor’s degree from a prestigious University
  • MBA preferred
