Position overview:

  • Direct the Facilities Asset Management group to focus on strategic direction versus tactical approach to long-term facility asset management and maintenance plans within the Corporate Resources strategic and operating plans.
  • Manages a diverse portfolio with a significant budget responsibility.
  • Focus on deploying capital improvements that have positive impacts to annual operation costs.
  • Manages resources and budget levels to meet strategic objectives and operational needs.
  • Accountable for key performance indicators and metrics that have broad Company-wide exposure and ramifications.
  • Develops strategies with the third-party facilities management company to develop on-going improvements to project reporting, processes and facilities.
  • Take a pro-active approach to contractor and vendor selection and delivery approaches to improve cost model.


Typical Responsibilities:

  • Reviews and approves long-term cost saving and sustainability strategies and sets the direction for energy efficient building design and use of recycled water.  Leads sustainability discussions for facility upgrades or remodels.
  • Takes responsibility for ensuring the Facilities team meets requirements of the Company, Operations Support and providing appropriate service to business partners within the Facilities portfolio.
  • Engage in relationship management and customer service with diverse stakeholders across the organization, which includes communications and notifications.  Leverage expanded level of involvement of Managed Service Provider to manage turn-key project delivery.
  • Direct and control vendor relationships, including the third-party facilities management company.  Accountable for vendor contractual compliance at facilities that include contractor safety oversight on Company property and overall administrative contractual compliance (e.g., timely completion of work).  Directs vendor accountability from a contractual perspective to meet service level expectations and to comply with facility related policies.  Directs interaction with Corporate Resources to resolve issues
  • Engages with facilities industry peers to obtain external benchmarking on industry best practices. Capture key findings, leverage and/or self-publish white papers to support future GRC testimony.
  • Ensures compliance with all state and federal safety regulations.  Accountable for Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), Cal-OHSA, California regulatory and Company specific compliance, including permitting, testing, inspections and documentation requirements for, but not limited to, North American Electric Reliability Corporation critical infrastructure protection (NERC-CIP) requirements, above ground storage tank requirements, underground storage tank requirements, emergency diesel generators, refrigeration/HVAC systems, water quality, fire prevention, asbestos, lead, hazardous waste, hazardous spill management, hazardous material management, agency inspections, elevators, pressure vessels, hydraulic hoists, cranes, heliports and hazardous energy control inventory within the scope of Facilities Asset Management.
  • Develops personnel through cross-training and educational training to supportdevelopment and succession planning.  Makes, recommends and/or approves employment decisions (e.g., hiring, promotion, appropriate pay, rewards/recognition, succession planning, termination).  Manages employee performance for both direct and/or matrixed reports.  Establishes performance expectations and goals aligned with Company objectives, policies and procedures.  Manages, trains and develops staff by providing timely feedback, coaching and support.  Demonstrates Company values through decisions and actions.  Promotes the Company’s safety culture to ensure a safe work environment.


Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Five years of experience managing a multi-site facilities portfolio.
  • Five years of experience managing, supervising, or leading an organization, unit or teams.
  • Five years of experience as project manager of multiple concurrent projects.


Desired qualifications:

  • Seven years of facility management and/or major project management experience
  • Ten years of experience managing, supervising, or leading an organization, unit or teams.
  • Operational Planning, Engineering or Architectural background.
  • P.E License or Architect’s License.
  • Experience supporting cross-organizational departments or external clients.
