KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Reporting to the CEO, the Senior Director of Loan and Asset Management will be responsible for leading the Loan & Asset Management team who is responsible for actively managing a portfolio of equity and debt investments to maximize returns and minimize losses. This position will be a key member of the real estate team and partner with the leadership team to continue to drive performance.
  • Set asset strategy, capital budgets, complete appraisals, negotiate sales, lease negotiations and hold/sell analysis for the equity portfolio.
  • Quarterly loan restructures/modifications and collateral substitutions; approve all borrower requests impacting collateral.
  • Loan Servicing/Loan Management: Surveillance of the loan book including valuation reviews and loan modification approvals.
  • Monthly and quarterly asset and loan updates to various stakeholders including investment committee and AIM.
  • Responsible for developing capabilities of his/her team who assist in loan and asset management, monthly and quarterly asset and loan updates, etc.
  • Lead asset sale negotiations, participate in asset acquisition negotiations and other strategic initiatives based on market developments, change in investor appetite, and economic developments.
  • Act as the counterbalance to the acquisition team by conducting independent analysis, challenging assumptions, etc.
  • Draw on experience from past market cycles as well as evaluate prospective transactions to ensure alignment with clients' overall real estate investment strategy.
  • Responsible for reviewing and approving asset budgets and cash flow planning analysis.
  • Write and present investment memorandums to investment committee relating to asset strategy, investment performance, lease recommendations, asset sales, and fund investments.
  • Responsible for overseeing the quarterly asset valuation process on equity investments, distressed debt, and annual valuation process on the debt portfolio.
  • Lead negotiations for loan modifications and approvals and participate in loan workouts and restructures.
  • Serve as the overall client relationship manager for the debt and equity portfolio.
  • Ensure the team maintains regular contact with borrowers and business partners helping to ensure timely decision making and maximized returns to the business.
  • Oversee the development, enhancement and execution of processes and procedures related to all facets of commercial mortgage loan management and loan servicing.
  • Act as the board representative on behalf of investors to drive deal specific strategy and protect the investments.
  • Provide debt and equity portfolio market intelligence to evaluate cross-sell opportunities.
  • Cultivate the team for growth by providing opportunities to learn and collaborate with each other within the greater company network and with partners and colleagues in the industry.
 
PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS
  • 15+ years’ experience in asset management, commercial loan portfolio management and ideally loan servicing.
  • Highly-organized and detail-oriented with strong time-management skills. Ability to multi- task, think “outside the box”, prioritize, and thrive in a fast-paced environment and meet critical deadlines.
  • Understanding of commercial real estate fundamentals, financing principles, and capital structures surrounding the office leasing process, real estate operations, Project management, underwriting, discounted cash flow analysis, return on investment principles and valuation.
  • Ability to manage third party brokers, project management teams, property management staff and effectively interact with tenants.
  • Strong market presence and relationship building skills; Strong written and verbal communication skills.
EDUCATION
Four-year degree required in either Finance, Accounting, Business, or related field
