Our boutique real estate company is looking for a capable, diligent top level Financial Controller who can grow to become our Chief Financial Officer to manage the accounting operations of the organization, as well as cash management and risk management, along with supervising all accounting staff. This successful candidate will be responsible for budget management, financial analysis, overseeing the accounts payable, accounts receivable and financial reporting. Human resources will also need to be managed when the HR manager is out. The position is based in an office setting in downtown Boston.  The Financial Controller must deliver precise information under strict deadlines. The ideal candidate for the Financial Controller position is bright, attentive, and efficient with self-assurance and the ability to complete work skillfully with little to no direct supervision.   • Oversee and monitor accounting operations of the company
  • Create an organizational structure within the accounting department to facilitate the achievement of the department’s short-term goals and long-term objectives
  • Manage and Oversee the Accounts Payable and Receivable staff as well as accountants
  • Compile and Analyze Financial Reporting Packages
  • Prepare monthly and annual operating budgets
  • Communicate the financials with senior management
  • Collaborate with external auditors as needed
  • Complete periodic bank reconciliations
  • Manage the preparation of payroll for personnel
  • Supervise transaction-processing operations
  • Oversee any outsourced accounting functions
  • Maintain an organized and orderly filing system of all accounting documents
  • Maintain a comprehensive system of accounting records
  • Ensure the accuracy of the organization’s financial results and reports
  • Ensure that financial reports comply with current accounting principles and financial reporting standards
  • Publish complete and timely financial statements to company executives Account for any budget variances and report significant discrepancies to management
  • Recommend benchmarks for the measurement of company financial performance goals
  • Comply with all local, state, and federal tax filings and reporting requirements
  • File quarterly and annual reports with the Securities and Exchange Commission
  • Schedule payments for accounts payable promptly
  • Schedule timely payments for debt repayment
  • Ensure prompt collection of accounts receivable
  • Maintain a system of controls over all transactions
  • Manage Lender Relations



  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Accounting, Finance or related discipline
  • MBA preferred
  • Certified Public Accountant or Certified Management Accountant designation preferred
  • 5+ years of real estate accounting experience preferred
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Impeccable analytical and organizational skills
  • Self-motivated and self-directed
  • Ability to work closely with a senior management team
