Associate - Accounting and Operations


Atlas Real Estate Partners is seeking a full-time Associate to assist with the full spectrum of real estate private equity operations including: accounting, tax, transaction processing and investor relations.  This position will also assist real estate professionals with acquisitions, asset management, marketing, analysis, research and ad hoc projects.  This opportunity is based in the company’s New York City headquarters


  • Effectively communicate with close knit Internal Team, Joint Venture Partners, Investors, Property Managers, Accountants, Lawyers and Lenders.  Be a proper representative of the Atlas brand
  • Proactively take on new assignments and deliver quality work product without errors
  • Track and organize transaction information from Properties and Partnership Entities and present to 3rd party accountants while coordinating preparation of 100 LLC tax returns and 1,500 investor k1s
  • Onboard new investors: Confirm, organize and ensure proper presentation of 650 investor contacts and 1,500 investor accounts within Atlas Online Investor Platform (powered by Juniper Square)
  • Communicate results of property performance to investors for 25 Syndicated Real Estate Deals on a quarterly basis.  Post quarterly letters, present distribution figures and upload property images/videos
  • Maintain waterfall calculations: Allocate distributions, verify banking instructions and process 750 payments to investors on a quarterly basis
  • Facilitate smooth internal operations for the overall business: Scan physical mail, organize incoming email, maintain checklist of tasks, allocate items to team members and facilitate completion ahead of deadlines.  Maintain organization of deal and company electronic files/statements on Dropbox for easy retrieval
  • Assist with recurring deliverables including: Lender compliance requests, Personal property tax filings, IRA custodian filings, 1099 processing, Investor holiday gifts as well as entity formation, filings and related payments
  • Oversee Office operations: Order supplies, ensure IT equipment is functioning, schedule/coordinate onsite meetings
  • Cash management: Monitor cash balances, receivables and payables.  Detail all inflows and outflows. Calculate/propose transactions to be processed for real estate deals and general company items
  • Calculate fee and expense allocations.  Process reimbursements owed to the General Partner
  • Work closely with the asset management team to review monthly reporting packages from each property. Complete market analyses, participate in weekly calls with the property management staff, audit online marketing presence, compile online tenant reviews and maintain property images/videos
  • Assist real estate professionals with deal sourcing, underwriting, sensitivity analyses, market analysis, and preparation of Investment Memorandum
  • Provide support for Fund Raising, Acquisitions, Debt Refinancing, Dispositions and 1031 processing
  • Abstract legal agreements and prepare calculations according to terms within


  • 2+ years of accounting / tax / finance / real estate experience, in public accounting and/or private equity / investment management industry with an emphasis on partnership / fund accounting
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting and/or Finance with strong academic record
  • Demonstrated passion for your professional development
  • Self-starter with ability to work well in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines
  • Intellectual curiosity and eagerness to apply and enhance existing skill set
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel; ability to organize, present and analyze information effectively
  • Exceptional organizational skills with ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
