Position Summary

The VP of  Development is responsible for all aspects of development and renovations for several high-profile hospitality projects with a focus on planning, entitlement, budgeting, coordination and an overall management of the development or repositioning process from inception to completion. This position is expected to effectively manage multiple projects, concurrently, in different cities and at varying phases of development.

The position is based in our Fort Lauderdale, Florida office. Our current development pipeline includes active Hospitality projects at various phases of development in, San Francisco, West Hollywood, Fort Lauderdale, Virginia and Philadelphia.

We are looking for someone who is a self-starter and hands-on to join our company that brings a positive attitude, enjoys collaborating as part of a team, learns quickly, takes initiative and proactively tackles new challenges and is willing to pitch in where needed. The ability to effectively communicate with a variety of stakeholders, officials, consultants and community groups is imperative.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

  • Work closely with the Managing Principal of DoveHill, the executive leadership team, the VP of Acquisitions, Director of Design and The Wurzak Hotel Group team to: underwrite new development and acquisition opportunities; estimate construction costs and develop project budgets; create schedules, and manage the project team.
  • Work with the Acquisitions team to prepare informational packages for the Executive Team as well as Offering Memoranda and periodic reports for equity partners and lenders.
  • Oversee all facets of the development process including planning, design, entitlement,
  • construction / renovation, programming, value engineering and delivery of the Hotels.
  • Contribute to building and interior design to conform meet brand and project goals.
  • Work closely with the Executive Team to review and select Project Teams including, Interior Designers, Architects, construction professionals and General Contractors
  • Thoroughly reviewing civil, architectural and interior design plans to drive quality and cost
  • effectiveness.
  • Assist in implementation of design and planning documents; design management includes managing architectural and engineering teams and all third party consultants including detailed development schedules, timelines and cost estimates.
  • Prepare and maintain the financial projections, project budget and monthly draw requests and related analyses for the development and operation of the projects.
  • Participate in project bidding negotiation, contractor section and contract negotiation.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelors Degree or MBA in Construction Management, Engineering, or Real Estate Development.
  • 4+ Years in Real Estate Development and or Construction Management with an emphasis on vertical development, land development and project management and the demonstrated ability to build and direct effective teams to manage major development projects.
  • Advanced knowledge and understanding of architectural documentation, development and
  • construction practices
  • Advanced knowledge in Excel, bonus points for Revit, Bluebeam, Adobe Suite, and AutoCAD
  • Strong ability to multitask, prioritize, and work well under pressure to meet established
  • deadlines and budgets. Highly organized.
  • Preference for background in Construction Estimating
