The Assistant Vice President, Intermediary Channel will be responsible for promoting the firm’s full suite of real estate investment products specific to the Intermediary Channel. The current products range from Public Equity Real Estate to Private Real Estate Equity and Debt investment strategies. Investment vehicles include SMAs, a mutual fund, ETFs, LP commingled funds and separate accounts.
The primary goal of this position is to significantly increase Heitman’s visibility, brand recognition and assets under management across Heitman’s three primary investment businesses within the intermediary channel. This individual will possess capital markets and real estate investment knowledge along with a strong work ethic and desire to achieve as part of this unique strategic opportunity for Heitman.
Based in the firm’s Chicago headquarters, the AVP will be accountable for individual business development and territory goals in partnership with the SVP, Head of Intermediary Channel.
As part of a larger team, the AVP will be expected to collaborate with members of the team as well as coordinate across Heitman to help implement the channel growth plan. Broadly speaking, the successful candidate will contribute to raising the profile and assets of Heitman in the marketplace by communicating clearly and confidently the benefits of investing with Heitman.
The AVP should be effective in identifying the best investment strategy from among the suite of Heitman products to solve client bespoke investment needs. Specifically, performance indicators will include the ability to build new advisor relationships, assist in territory management and implementation of the territory and channel business plan, raise capital from new and existing clients as well as retain the assets of existing clients.
The responsibilities of an Assistant Vice President, Intermediary Channel include, but are not limited to:
Take proactive role in contacting advisors, wholesalers (internal and external) and other centers of influence of key partner firms to foster and grow relationships and seek new opportunities to grow assets under management.
Identify and cultivate new business opportunities through calling efforts, email campaigns and referrals.
Assist in coordinating meeting logistics for SVP, Head of Intermediary Channel including scheduling, planning, preparing, production of materials and follow up as needed.
Assist with introductions and scheduling in-person meetings for SVP with key channel relationships.
Deliver sales ideas, power phrases and educational materials to internal and external wholesalers of key subadvisor partners to educate and encourage them to select Heitman as their primary manager for real estate investments.
Take primary role in customizing existing salesforce system for the specific needs of the Intermediary Channel.Ultimately, assist in tracking meetings, sales, redemptions and building reports to share with Heitman senior leadership.
Assist in designing and implementing various email and call campaigns with follow up.Assess results to ensure highly efficient and effective marketing efforts to drive growth of channel.This includes effective use of salesforce and other technology tools available.
Collaborate with the marketing team to design and build effective email system for marketing and communications with existing clients and new prospects to support the drive to raise assets.Content would include performance summaries, white papers and the breadth of Heitman intellectual capital.
Assist in development and implementation of marketing campaigns for distribution forces of key client firms (First Trust, Merrill Lynch) and additional firms as they are onboarded.
Act as primary internal contact for Heitman businesses with respect to advisor and partner firm requests including meeting and conference call coordination, RFIs and RFPs, performance and attribution and other various marketing requests.
Coordinate with SVP, Head of Intermediary Channel to develop a strategy for partnerships with key firms in supporting their distribution efforts to increase sales and awareness of Heitman with the respective firms.
Maintain Strategic Client Engagement documents for key partner firms.
Attend key industry conferences, events and sales meetings to increase awareness of Heitman brand, uncover new opportunities and develop new relationships
Proactively communicate with compliance department on any applicable regulatory matters.
The position will report to the Head of Client Service as well as have a functional reporting line to the SVP, Head of Intermediary Channel.

At least 3-7 years’ experience in financial services preferred with demonstrated success in the industry

Broad investment knowledge encompassing some alternative strategies exposure, ideally base-level experience in real estate
Collaborative by nature; willing and able to build and sustain strong working relationships with others both internally and externally; open-minded, discreet and humble
Creative, out of the box thinking to connect the firm’s capabilities with client needs and ability to investigate all viable options along with consequences of each
Well-developed critical thinking and analytical skills
Willingness to travel
Strong intellect demonstrated by excellent academic and professional qualifications
Smart, self-confident and decisive; with good interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal
Series 7 & 63 licenses required, additional licenses preferred
CIMA, CAIA, or CFA is preferred but not required
