Our Mission:

MidPen is building the future of affordable housing. Combining beautifully designed communities with life-transforming services for our residents, we’re on a mission to help our partners, residents, and employees see what’s possible. We believe community is the key to a healthy and successful collective future, and we are changing the world from our own backyard!

Role Purpose:  The Design and Construction Manager (DCM) brings in field expertise and experience to MidPen’s design, preconstruction, and construction phase design work and construction management.  The DCM will bring energy, clarity, and strategic thinking to MidPen’s approach to modular construction, zero net energy efforts, and other emerging design and construction trends.

Your day to day:

  • Working with MidPen’s design and construction team, lead annual update to MidPen’s Building Guidelines through evaluation of operation of existing projects and solicitation of feedback regarding design and materials used on existing projects from development, asset management, service, on-site maintenance, facilities and preventative maintenance staff.
  • Review all development projects at conceptual design, 50% design development and 50% construction documents. Provide a summary of the consistency of the project with the MidPen building standards, potential design conflicts and potential solutions to enhance livability and constructability.
  • Working with the Director of Operation for Development and other development staff, create, document, and implement a post occupancy evaluation survey.  Gather input from stakeholders, draft survey, and work with partner departments to ensure high response rate.
  • Working with the Director of Operation for Development and other development staff, research, create, and document MidPen’s strategies for achieving Net Zero Energy, and/or near Net Zero Energy, buildings through new construction and intensive renovation.  Gather input from stakeholders, draft policies, incorporate feedback on draft policies, and create professional final documents.
