The County of Orange is a regional service provider and planning agency whose core businesses include public safety, public health, environmental protection, regional planning, public assistance, social services, and aviation. The County of Orange is a Charter County divided into five districts and governed by a five-member, elected Board of Supervisors. The Board is committed to making Orange County a safe, healthy, and fulfilling place to live, work, and play, today and for generations to come, by providing outstanding, cost-effective regional public services. The County has a workforce of approximately 17,203 employees. The County owns or leases 10.7 million square feet of space; this includes 2.2 million square feet of space and ownership of 36 buildings totaling 8.5 million square feet.
