Starwood Capital Group is a privately held real estate private equity firm located in Greenwich, Connecticut that specializes in global real estate–related investments on behalf of select private and institutional investor partners. Founded in 1991, Starwood is one of the nation's most active and successful real estate investors having acquired a highly diversified portfolio totaling more than $8 billion in real estate assets. We are currently investing our sixth fund ($567M equity), and have averaged 35%+ returns for our limited partners since the firm’s inception. Starwood has acquired equity interests in 50,158 hotel rooms, 12,000 residential lots, 4,600 multifamily an condominium units, 14.5 million square feet of office, 3.3 million square feet of industrial space, 14.2 million square feet of retail space, 1,450 senior housing units, and 260 golf courses. In addition to its property-level focus, Starwood Capital Group has also sponsored a number of publicly traded real estate-related companies, including Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide, iStar Financial and Equity Residential. It was part of a consortium that closed on a $1 billion transaction to acquire publicly traded National Golf Corporation, which owns and operates more than 255 golf courses around the world. More recently, it also acquired a race-track casino in Rhode Island.
