Saint Francis Care is now a member of Trinity Health. With the closing of their agreement to join together, Trinity Health and Saint Francis will embark on efforts to advance people-centered care in New England through the immediate establishment of a new not-for-profit regional health system in New England. Trinity Health is one of the largest multi-institutional Catholic health care delivery systems in the nation. It serves people and communities in 21 states with 88 hospitals, 126 continuing care locations — including home care, hospice, PACE and senior living facilities — that provide nearly 2.5 million visits annually. Saint Francis Hospital and Medical Center has been an anchor institution in north central Connecticut since 1897. Licensed for 617 beds and 65 bassinets, it is a major teaching hospital and the largest Catholic hospital in New England. Saint Francis and its other major entities - Mount Sinai Rehabilitation Hospital, the Connecticut Joint Replacement Institute, the Hoffman Heart and Vascular Institute of Connecticut, Smilow Cancer Hospital Yale-New Haven at Saint Francis, the Joyce D. and Andrew J. Mandell Center for Comprehensive Multiple Sclerosis Care and Neuroscience Research, and Saint Francis HealthCare Partners – joined Trinity Health in 2015.
