PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Manages team projects, both within and between departments, for the preparation of special reports and studies, directing the activities of support personnel as needed.
Assumes the responsibilities of the division head in his/her absence. Acts as the principal liaison with applicants of priority processing projects and other applications for board and commission review. Provides information to citizens, developers and others related to his/her functional area.
Prepares staff reports and makes public presentations of matters pending before boards and commissions.
Conducts detailed research and analysis for his/her specific area of responsibility as related to departmental action.
Coordinates the recommendations of other departments, divisions and groups, both internal and external, as related to specific area of responsibility.
Monitors departmental practices and procedures, and prepares recommendations for possible changes or adjustments to increase accuracy and efficiency.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Requires a working knowledge of the principles and practices of urban planning and federal and state laws and regulations related to planning and urban development.
Requires a working knowledge of municipal government organization and functions, as well as a working knowledge of requirements for plats, maps and diagrams.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
Master's degree in Urban Planning or related field.
Two years (four years for a Bachelor's degree) experience in Urban Planning.

LICENSES/CERTIFICATES:
Texas Class C driver's license.
Membership in AICP preferred
