Senior Real Estate Law Clerk / Commercial Leasing
We are searching for an experienced Real Estate / Commercial Law Clerk who is trained at working independently. The Clerk will work alongside an extremely busy Lawyer .Clerk will be responsible for:
- Managing and completing residential purchase, sale and mortgage files from start to finish;
- Preparing and reviewing deeds, affidavits & agreements of purchase and sale;
- Drafting and coordinating necessary documents;
- Organizing and coordination of files and closings;
- Conducting and reviewing title searches, off-title searches and drafting requisitions.
- preparing commercial leases and related documents including amending agreements,
- sublease agreements, lease surrenders and renewals with a focus on suburban strip shopping leases (retail and office) and some traditional office building leases.
- Work with other corporate finance and development staff in summarizing multiple leases related to acquisitions and refinancing of retail/commercial/industrial properties.
- Prepare leasing documentation, lease analysis and summary; first drafts of leases (when precedents are available); assignments (consent); sublease (consent); distress notice and non-disturbance agreements.
- Conduct lease reviews, negotiate with opposing lawyer and tenant when required.
This is an ideal role for a candidate who enjoys being part of a friendly group, has experience with real estate and commercial leases, but also enjoys working independently.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Completion of a recognized college level Law Clerk program, ILCO or equivalent work experience
- At least 5 years’ experience in real estate and Commercial leasing transactions
- Expert in Teraview
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office
- Strong ability to work as part of a team and independently
