Headquartered in Itasca, IL, Heitman Architects has successfully designed over 45 million square feet of built facilities across the United States, as well as in Mexico, Canada, and Northern Europe. Over the past 27 years, Heitman Architects has been responsible for the most visible commercial & industrial developments in the Midwest. In 2020, they were named NAIOP Chicago’s Design Firm of the Year. While providing high caliber design, Heitman Architects has also provided a high level of professional service. With a large majority of the company’s work coming from existing relationships, Heitman Architects commitment to clients has enabled the company’s continued growth and success. In 2003, Heitman Architects became a United States Green Building Council (USGBC) Corporate Member. With early involvement in the USGBC, Heitman Architects designed the first LEED Certified private industrial building in the state of Illinois for the Anixter Corporation. As pioneering advocates of the sustainable movement, Heitman Architects and its president Karl Heitman have become known as thought leaders in the Chicago market and beyond. More recently, Heitman Architects was architect for the first LEED Platinum manufacturing facility in the consumer goods industry for Method which received the 2016 CoreNet Sustainable Leader Award. In addition to LEED, Heitman Architects is working towards helping their clients improve the energy efficiency and performance of their facilities as an EPA ENERGY STAR Partner. Since 2004, Heitman Architects has implemented Building Information Modeling (BIM) on its projects. With considerable investment in BIM, Heitman Architects has gone beyond improving productivity in design and construction and is developing custom applications for the transfer of knowledge across the client value chain.
