About the Company

Tricon is an owner, operator and developer of single-family rental homes in the U.S. and multi-family apartments in Canada. Our commitment to enriching the lives of our employees, residents and local communities underpins Tricon’s culture and business philosophy. We provide high-quality rental housing options for families across the United States and Canada through our technology-enabled operating platform and dedicated on-the-ground operating teams. Our development programs are also delivering thousands of new rental homes and apartments as part of our commitment to help solve the housing supply shortage.

We strive to be North America’s premier rental housing provider. Our business philosophy involves taking care of our team – empowering them to provide our residents with exceptional service and to positively impact the local communities where we operate. By providing an enhanced living experience, our residents rent for longer periods of time, treat our properties like their own, and share their experience with friends and family. This is how we continue to grow, guided by our purpose: consistently out-caring in service of residents.

The pre-tax funds you put into the account can be used to cover qualified transit passes, vanpooling, payments for transportation in a commuter highway vehicle and qualified parking costs.

  • HOSPITAL INDEMNITY– Hospital indemnity insurance can offer financial support to you or your family for an unforeseen large expense or during an emergency and help keep your family’s finances on track. Hospital indemnity insurance supplements your existing health insurance coverage by helping pay expenses for hospital stays.

All team members have confidential access to mental health support through our Employee Assistance Program (EAP) and Talkspace, available anytime you need to talk.

CEO of Tricon Homes

About the CEO

Gary Berman, President and Chief Executive Officer, leads Tricon’s overall operations, steering the company’s strategic vision and capital allocation with a steadfast commitment to a people-first approach to business. Since joining Tricon in 2002, Gary has transformed the company from a private equity provider in the for-sale housing industry into a premier rental housing platform. Today, Tricon is recognized as a leader in the residential real estate sector, with a diverse portfolio spanning single-family rental homes, multi-family properties, build-to-rent and for-sale master-planned communities, and the highest resident satisfaction scores in the industry.

In the U.S., Gary is a pioneer of the professionally managed single-family rental (SFR) and build-to-rent (BTR) industries, which democratize housing by providing rental options for families seeking high-quality homes and communities. Under his leadership, Tricon has grown to become one of the leading operators in the sector, with a portfolio of approximately 65,000 rental homes.

In Canada, Gary led Tricon to become a first mover in Toronto’s purpose-built rental apartment industry, launching this initiative in 2016. Under his leadership, Tricon is developing the highest-quality, pure-play multi-family portfolio in North America’s fastest-growing city. Today, Tricon is the market leader and most active developer in the sector, with approximately 6,500 new units in operation or under construction.

Beyond Tricon, Gary is a committed advocate for advancing housing and community development. He serves as a Honorary Governor of the Corporation of Massey Hall and Roy Thomson Hall, is a member of the Policy Advisory Board at Harvard’s Joint Center for Housing Studies (JCHS), and is on the CEO Council of the National Rental Home Council (NRHC). Previously, he was a Trustee of the Urban Land Institute and a member of the University of Toronto’s Real Estate Advisory Committee. As co-founder of the Pug Awards, Gary helped elevate architectural standards and foster public engagement in urban design for over a decade, promoting excellence in planning and advocating for more thoughtful, community-centered development.

Gary earned a Master of Business Administration degree from Harvard Business School, where he was named a Baker Scholar, and a Bachelor of Commerce degree from McGill University, graduating first overall in the Faculty of Management.
