Neighborhood Housing Services of New York City is a not-for-profit citywide organization working to revitalize underserved neighborhoods by creating and preserving affordable housing and providing opportunities for homeownership education, financial assistance and community leadership. Working in partnership with government and business, we are led by local residents and guided by local needs. NHS accomplishes its mission by rehabilitating residential and mixed-use properties; constructing new affordable housing; providing pre- and post-purchase education that builds the capacity of people to help themselves; developing grass-roots leadership that promotes the self-sufficiency of neighborhoods; creating neighborhood revitalization projects designed to address the needs of each community; and developing new programs that meet the changing needs of low- and moderate-income residents in New York City.
