About the Company
The Recovery School District (RSD) was created in 2003 to transform the lowest performing schools in Louisiana and has become one of the most innovative public school districts in the country. The RSD directly operates 12 schools in New Orleans and 10 schools in East Baton Rouge, St. Helena, Pointe Coupee and Caddo parishes. In addition, the RSD is responsible for oversight of 56 charter schools which, along with direct-run schools, account for 32,000 students in public schools in New Orleans and over 3,000 in Baton Rouge and beyond. Since 2007, the number of students at grade level in RSD schools in New Orleans has more than doubled, rising from 23% to 51%.
