The British Columbia Housing Management Commission (BC Housing) is a crown agency of the provincial government and is responsible for providing a range of housing programs for British Columbians. BC Housing, together with its partners, works across the housing continuum to: ensure the most vulnerable have housing and support options that provide stability and maximize independence; increase the supply of affordable and supported housing options for people with low and moderate incomes; administer rent assistance programs; oversee the management of provincial housing properties and programs; support strong non-profit and Indigenous housing sectors; and provide a licensing system in which residential builders achieve a high bar of professionalism. With a compelling mandate in an organization which focuses on creating safe, affordable and quality housing for British Columbians, the Vice President, Corporate Services & Chief Financial Officer (CFO) is a critical member of the Executive Leadership Team and will be responsible for enabling the growth of the organization. Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), the CFO provides strategic financial, business and risk management advice to the CEO and Board of Commissioners with respect to the plans and operations of BC Housing, and leads the development of strategic business and financial strategies to accomplish the Commission’s objectives. The CFO evaluates the performance of BC Housing’s operations and reports results to the CEO, Board and government. The incumbent directs the provision of financial, business planning, research and policy support, corporate administration, information management, and legal services in supporting the business and operational requirements of the Commission. The CFO builds strong working relationships with senior officials at the provincial and federal government level, in the banking, investment and industry sectors and with housing partners. The CFO serves as a key member of BC Housing’s Executive team and as a Director of the Provincial Rental Housing Corporation.
As the ideal candidate, you are a highly successful senior financial executive with experience in the development, real estate or real property sector, as well as responsibility for overseeing multiple business units or departments. Superior interpersonal and communication skills and a proven ability to think strategically and instill a continuous improvement mindset are hallmarks of a suitable candidate. You will have demonstrated leadership and have been successful in developing, implementing and evaluating financial programs, processes and systems that provide a high level of service and performance. Your knowledge and career experience are supported by an appropriate educational background. Experience in the public sector would be an asset.
