The Acquisitions Senior Associate is responsible for identifying and analyzing real estate acquisition opportunities within key markets throughout the country. The Senior Associate will assist the Acquisition Team with evaluating, underwriting, and executing the closing of student housing real estate investments throughout the country.

 

Reports to:  Senior Vice President of Acquisitions



Duties and Responsibilities:

 

The Senior Associate’s responsibilities will include, but not be limited to, the following functions.   The role and responsibilities will evolve with the needs of the company and capabilities of the Senior Associate.

 

  • Identify and Analyze key markets that the firm will look to invest in and provide a detailed overview of the market and university.
  • Start relationships with brokers and owners in the student housing space promoting the firm’s acquisition criteria.
  • Prepare detailed cash flow analysis and investment projections using excel.
  • Work with operations team to formalize operating budgets consistent with acquisition underwriting.
  • Conduct property site visits to evaluate acquisition opportunities.
  • Prepare investment memos for presentation internally, as well as externally to lenders and institutional equity partners.
  • Perform real estate due diligence including coordinating third party reports, onsite due diligence and equity and lender diligence requests. 
  • Compile and maintain closing statements prior to acquisition closing and compile all invoices for acquisition related expenses.
  • Respond to special requests for information from investor and capital clients in a professional manner and on an expedited basis.
  • Establish and manage relationships with all entities and agencies involved with Landmark-owned assets.
  • Work with multiple financial institution partners in arranging debt and other capital market executions (commercial banks, Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, insurance companies, etc.)
  • Work with institutional equity partners on closing real estate transactions.
Requirements:

  • 5-7 years of Commercial Real Estate experience.
  • Undergraduate degree is required, preferably with a focus in Business, Real Estate, Finance, or other relevant subject matter. MBA is preferred.
  • Willingness/ability to travel 5-10 nights per month.
  • Attention to detail and ability to handle multiple simultaneous projects.
  • Advanced understanding of underwriting and investment concepts and the ability to apply concepts.
