Overview:   Trimont Real Estate Advisors, LLC is a commercial real estate services firm, which has been providing asset management, loan servicing, due diligence and customized advisory solutions to commercial real estate lenders and investors for over 30 years. We are a trusted partner to clients in the Americas, Europe and Asia.

Seeking a CMBS Associate Director to assist the IAS team and a leading PERE third-party client in the underwriting and surveillance of a growing portfolio of CMBS investments.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Underwrite and perform credit analysis on loan collateral across all major property types within CMBS securitizations
  • Track issuer and industry trends as well as macroeconomic performance drivers which could impact portfolio holdings
  • Determine loan-level risk ratings and default/loss assumptions on higher-risk assets across the portfolio
  • Create and edit financial models that allow for the valuation of commercial real estate assets and sizing of real estate loans
  • Assist the underwriting team in valuing office, retail, industrial, multi-family, hospitality, construction, redevelopment and unimproved land assets
  • Help prepare investment committee presentations
  • Serve as a knowledge resource for more junior team members
  • Interacting with third party consultants including special servicers, brokers and sales agents, and construction consultants
  • Conduct property site inspections and market research

 

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • 4-7 years of work experience in commercial real estate loan underwriting
  • Experience with all major CRE property types (Office, Retail, Multifamily, Hotel, Industrial, etc.) in markets across the country.
  • Advanced knowledge and experience with Excel based financial modeling
  • Advanced knowledge of financial statement analysis, cash flows and CRE debt and valuation concepts
  • Highly analytical thinking with demonstrated talent for identifying, scrutinizing, improving, and streamlining complex work processes
  • Results-driven achiever with exemplary planning and organizational skills, along with a high degree of detail orientation
  • Strong interpersonal skills. Exceptional listener and communicator who effectively conveys information verbally and in writing
  • Resourceful team player who excels at building trusting relationships with clients and colleagues
  • Applicable knowledge of Microsoft Office suite
  • College (BS/BA) degree in Real Estate, Finance, Accounting or Business Administration preferred

 

Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Solid understanding of commercial real estate transactions and industry terms
  • Extensive experience with Microsoft Excel
  • In-depth knowledge of third party market information platforms (Trepp, Costar, REIS, RCA, Bloomberg)
  • Experience with structured finance transactions (e.g., CMBS, CLO, loan on loan)
  • Familiarity with loan workouts, special servicing or REO assets a plus
