Senior Finance Associate 

Fast-growing commercial real estate development and investment management firm based in Nashville, TN and focused on mixed-use urban infill and industrial projects. The Senior Finance Associate is responsible for the overall financial operation of the company and its related entities, as well as individual projects, including oversight of the financial aspects of land and debt closings, development, and stabilization. You will work under the direct supervision of the CEO and be integral to the expansion of the finance team over the next several years.

 

Job Responsibilities

  • Manage Organization-wide Accounting: Oversee monthly (as applicable) and quarterly financial statement production, which will include managing current outsourced bookkeeping firm. Also includes coordinating with Fund Administrator to produce compiled financials for our Real Estate Private Equity Fund (on a quarterly basis).
  • Treasury Management for the Projects: Prepare draw requests, make payments, handle miscellaneous banking requests, prepare operating budgets for Development and Management companies.
  • Debt Closings: Oversee debt broker and assist in producing debt package, manage internally the closing of construction loans, including completion of closing checklist with legal counsel. Interface with outside legal counsel and financial advisors to negotiate and finalize critical closing documents, including loan documents, partnership agreement, regulatory agreements, etc.
  • Tax Preparation & Compliance: Provide outside tax accountant all necessary financial records to compile CA South entities’ tax returns; work with administrative staff to ensure that all state, local and other filings are kept up-to-date.
  • Acquisition Sourcing and Underwriting: Work with brokers, community connections to identify and source transactions. Produce financial modeling, prepare investment packages, handle investor questions, undertake cursory due diligence, and prepare/evaluate comps, etc. Underwrite transactions to meet profitability objectives by analyzing and manipulating financing options and budget figures; working with lenders and other parties to obtain and verify required supporting documents.
  • Market Research: Assist with expansion efforts into new markets, including comprehensive comp analysis of potential growth markets; maintain similar info on Nashville market.  

Qualifications

This is a highly dynamic role that requires “rolling up your sleeves” to handle anything and everything in the above scope, while fully owning the financial structure of the company.

  • 4+ years of accounting/finance experience required. Strongly preferred to be in the real estate context.
  • Strong understanding of accounting and able to implement systems to efficiently manage all financial aspects of firm
  • Ability to build, and manage real estate financial modeling, including operating proformas, investment analysis, sensitivity analysis, as well as build investment deck presentations
  • Strong analytical and communication (both verbal and written) skills are highly valued
  • Ability to successfully manage several projects at various stages simultaneously
  • Significant attention to detail and accuracy in financial matters and otherwise
  • Results driven and ability to work collaboratively as well as independently
  • Ability to set timelines and work to achieve those goals
  • Ability to problem-solve and think critically
  • Well-versed in relevant software and websites including Excel, Costar,(Argus a plus), etc.
  • Passion for real estate and positive attitude is an absolute must.

 

MBA / MRED / or advanced real estate/finance degree required.
