Position Summary:
Support the multifamily transactions team by performing acquisitions underwriting, assist during the due diligence and closing of both acquisitions and dispositions. This role will also maintain certain analytical tools and models, while sourcing information for the Multifamily and Student Housing pipelines that are determined to be viable investments. This position is currently remote but will be located in the Chicago office once offices are re-opened.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform extensive financial underwriting and market research of potential acquisitions targets using Excel
- Support Transactions Officers in the due diligence and closing of acquisitions and dispositions
- Maintain and source information for the team’s acquisitions pipeline for multi-family and student housing
- Assist in preparation of various presentations in PowerPoint
- Assist in the production of investment committee memorandums
- Work with internal research tools, existing portfolio metrics and third-party data sources to help underwrite opportunities
- Assist Transactions Officers by working collaboratively with internal stakeholders including Asset Management, Portfolio Management, Engineering, Legal, and Accounting, in addition to external third party service providers including property managers, brokers, partners, consultants, lenders and developers
Qualifications:
- One year of commercial real estate experience, multifamily experience preferred
- Understanding of fundamental real estate valuation concepts
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in a relevant field (real estate, economics, finance, accounting)
- Excellent command of Excel, including proficiency with advanced analytical spreadsheet skills
- Familiarity with PowerPoint; RedIQ and Yardi a plus
- Familiarity with multifamily real estate fundamentals and terminology
- Strong analytical and quantitative skills
- Assertive and confident speaker
- Excellent attention paid to writing and grammar
- Highly motivated with demonstrated ability to work independently and problem solve
- Ability to analyze and identify variances or opportunities in rent rolls and/or operating statements
- Time management and prioritization skills
- Ability to manage concurrent assignments with more than one transaction officer
