Description

Position:            New Business Development

Company:         Blue Vista Capital Management, LLC

Location:           Chicago, IL (Downtown)

Start Date:        Spring 2021

Company Overview

Founded in 2002, Blue Vista is a leading real estate investment firm focused developing long-term relationships, serving our investors' interests, and delivering consistent performance to our investors and partners through rigorous academic and research-driven investment processes. To date, Blue Vista has executed transactions valued at over $9.0 billion in total capitalization across the major property types and markets in the U.S. on behalf of our Middle Market, Lending and Student Housing platforms.

The Opportunity

Blue Vista Capital Management is seeking a candidate for New Business Development primarily engaged in the Middle Market Equity Business.  The primary job description of this role is to create and maintain relationships with local and regional operating partners throughout the US for providing general partner or limited partner equity in transactions.   The relationship development role is critical to investing with the Middle Market Equity Fund Series.  A secondary function of this role will entail the cross-selling of other Blue Vista investment product lines, where applicable.

The primary functions of this position are the following:

  • Screening and cursory underwriting potential joint venture equity investments across all asset classes and life cycle stages across the United States for the Middle Market Equity funds.
  • Researching covered markets for unidentified prospective joint venture partners and borrowers. Cold-calling and forming relationships with these firms. Once the relationship is formed or there is a pre-existing relationship with the firm, routine follow-up and relationship maintenance on a periodic basis through calling, emailing and in-person visits is required.
  • Maintaining detailed databases of prospective and existing relationships, with daily updates of records is required.
  • Retaining detailed databases of all screened deals for the various acquisition and underwriting teams, and the quarterly preparation of analysis surrounding these deals for both internal and external distribution.
  • Working closely with the acquisition and asset management teams to transition screened deals and continuing to work with these teams as deals progress. In conjunction with the transition, ad hoc acquisition work may be required, including the review of models, drafting of investment briefs/memos, deal due diligence, site visits, and post-closing relationship maintenance.
  • Representing Blue Vista with either the Senior New Business Development SVP or Senior Acquisition team members through routinely travelling to targeted markets to meet with prospective sponsors, borrowers, brokers, lenders, and other Blue Vista contacts to form new and maintain existing relationships. This travel would be coordinated with senior staff, including acquisition team members, the CIO, principals of the firm and the SVP of New Business Development. The New Business Development role would require planning 100% of the logistics of these trips for the senior staff.
