Description
General Duties:
- Review and approve annual operating budgets
- Review and analyze monthly operating statements
- Conduct regular property inspections and stay abreast of current market conditions in order to understand the competitive position of each asset in their portfolio
- Coordinate with property management, accounting, acquisitions, dispositions, construction management and legal to achieve the goals of the company relative to each asset
- Work closely with in-house management team to maximize revenues and implement appropriate cost controls
- Monitor real estate loans for compliance and analyze potential modifications / borrower requests
- Perform periodic valuations of underlying real estate collateral for loan investments
- Identify opportunities for value creation in existing portfolio of owned assets
- Identify assets for value-add renovations; create strategy and implement
- Recommend and oversee capital improvement projects
- Participate in property due diligence for acquisitions
- Participate in hold/sell analysis and make recommendations
- Participate in asset refinancing and dispositions
- Oversee all property level taxes and appeals in coordination with consultants
- Coordinate insurance claims
- Oversee property related legal matters in coordination with in-house and outside counsel
- Supervise and train analysts

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Must demonstrate financial acumen, research and analytical skills, strong problem-solving skills and quantitative abilities
- Must be resourceful, possess excellent organizational skills and strong written/oral communication skills
- Work with individuals/teams from multiple disciplines and motivate others to achieve desired results
- Capability of simultaneously handling multiple assignments and to direct and monitor the activities of others on a systematic basis
- Flexibility in working hours and travel as required to accomplish the work
- Must be proficient in MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook
- Solid working knowledge with Yardi and YieldStar are desired
- Experience working with joint venture partners is desired
- Familiarity with ESG, and property-related technology trends
- Possess existing relationships with multifamily developers, property managers and brokers
Education and Background
- Bachelor’s degree required in finance, accounting, economics; emphasis in real estate preferred
- BBA / MBA preferred
- 3-5 years of asset management experience required
- Preference for multi-family experience (asset management, lending, operations, construction/rehab) and knowledge of Southeastern U.S. multi-family markets
- Experience with debt / lending is highly desirable
