Madison Capital Group is the owner of Go Store It Self Storage. We are a private self storage company that is vertically integrated and focused on the acquisition and development of quality storage assets throughout the Country. We are growing rapidly and looking to build out our development team on the East Coast. We are looking for a qualifed candidate to join our team as a Director of Development who will oversea a specific territory and oversea all the development activity in that region. We are very interested in the Mid Atlantic and FL markets and other markets that feature higher barriers to entry. 

This person could be based in the Mid Atlantic, Carolinas, or Florida. 

 

The ideal candidate must be a highly motivated self-starter who is intellectually curious, enjoys working in a fast-paced environment and adapts easily to rapid change.  The Director of Development is responsible for management of the entitlement process, leading design teams/consultants, and overseeing projects from projects from concept to store opening.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

 

Job Responsibilities: 

 

  • Oversee projects from conceptual design through occupancy.
  • Work with construction management team to ensure projects deliver on time and within budget.
  • Lead design and consultant teams on multiple development projects, from concept to construction permit.
  • Manage soft cost and hard cost budgets through development and construction to meet project level goals.
  • Coordinate with Acquisitions and Finance on project funding and closings.
  • Hire design consultants, engineers, legal team for each project.
  • Create and manage project schedules from concept design through start of construction.
  • Coordinate with local government, designers, and consultants to manage the permitting and bonding process.
  • Represent Arcland at meetings with local jurisdictions, partners, and industry events.
  • Oversee budgets and schedules for projects during construction.
  • Manager regular reports to management team, investors, and key stakeholders.

Required Skills, Knowledge, and Characteristics: 

 

  • 3+ years of commercial real estate experience
  • 2+ years of working directly on project permits and entitlements preferred
  • Detail-oriented and highly organized
  • Opportunistic, entrepreneurial spirit, “go-getter”
  • Adaptable, ready to learn, and highly responsible
  • Multi-tasking and prioritizing abilities, effective time management
  • Effective telephone and in-person oral communication skills
  • Strong written communication skills
  • Works well independently and in a small office environment
  • The ability to lead and execute on initiatives and work well with others
  • Persistent
  • Bachelor's degree preferred
