Specialty real estate private equity firm, seeking to hire VP or Director in New York City to oversee a team to source, prepare and lead a variety of financial analyses and modeling in support of the firm’s due diligence of investment opportunities focused in the multi-family sector across the US.
The firm is a global leader in the acquisition of partial ownership interests in high quality real estate properties and portfolios. The firm utilizes its direct secondary strategy to acquire limited partnership, closed end fund, public and private REITs, joint venture, and structured equity interests in class A properties and portfolios in the U.S, U.K., and Western Europe. The firm has assets under management of approximately $6B and is currently deploying capital on behalf of multiple private equity vehicles.
Responsibilities:
· Must maintain industry relationships within all sectors (multifamily, industrial, health science, logistics, retail and office)
· Source deals in line with firm’s strategy across the Americas region, with a focus on MFR
· Review financial and legal agreements and other documents associated with potential investments to understand and quantify the economic impacts on valuation and projected investment returns, and research other legal issues to assist in the due diligence for potential acquisitions
· Assist in oversight of investment team
· Build relationships on behalf of the firm with the brokerage/intermediary community
· Communicate with internal and external audiences around an array of subjects related to the firm’s transactions
· Prepare investment committee memoranda and present investment committee presentations
· Prepare and lead a variety of financial analyses, in support of the firm’s due diligence of investment opportunities
· Responsible for cash flow modeling and valuation of assets, properties, and portfolios
· Offer insight and ideas regarding potential investments, creative transaction structures and deal terms that help lead to successful transactions
· Develop and maintain understanding of developments and trends in the economy and real estate industry and incorporate the most up-to-date information into analyses. Attend select seminars and conferences related to real estate
Skills/Qualifications:
· Strong external relationships with industry counterparties
· The ideal candidate for this role will be an experienced financial professional with:
· 10-12 years of experience in real estate underwriting, with strong focus on property level diligence, underwriting, and modeling / valuation
· Exceptional quantitative underwriting, modeling, MS Excel, and Argus skills required (VBA skills a plus)
· Strong interpersonal, verbal, and writing communication skills
· Ability to work within a team environment and interface with institutional clients and counterparties
· Experienced manager with demonstrated ability to train, mentor, and motivate team members
· Willingness and ability to travel
