Position: Vice President, Investments
Location: San Francisco, CA or Denver, CO

The Vice President, Investments will have a critical role in the sourcing, evaluation, and closing of opportunistic, value-add, core-plus, and Opportunity Zone real estate investment opportunities. This person will be one of four dedicated investment sourcing professionals, in addition to the two Managing Partners, who are generating deal volume. This person will primarily focus on investments in the California, Oregon, Washington, Hawaii, and Reno, NV markets.

Argosy employs a cradle-to-grave approach with its investments, and the position’s responsibilities will also include asset management oversight of existing investments. Specific duties will include sourcing and evaluating new investment opportunities, financial analysis, preparation of investment committee memos, internal presentations and reporting for the investment committee and fund investors. The candidate will work closely with joint venture partners, other team members, brokers and consultants. This role will report to the firm’s Managing Partners, Andy Stewart in Denver and David Butler in San Francisco.

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to join a small, entrepreneurial team, work directly with senior management, and gain exposure to a wide variety of real estate transactions.

Responsibilities
  • Source investment opportunities for all funds from existing and new operating partner relationships in the California, Oregon, Washington, Hawaii, and Reno, NV markets. This person will be expected to be proactively covering these markets, deepening relationships and seeking new opportunities with existing partners, seeking new partners, and seeking investment opportunities into which the firm can bring in existing or new partners.
  • Execute on, including evaluating opportunities, performing detailed diligence through closing on investment opportunities.
    • As requested, evaluate, diligence and close investments sourced by the Managing Partners.
    • Utilize network of operating partners, brokers and other relationships to assist the team with due diligence on potential investments.
    • Lead the negotiation of term sheets, venture documents, debt, and other key documents with appropriate managing partner involvement.
    • Conduct investment underwriting, financial analysis, due diligence, market analysis, site inspections, managing documentation, and investment closings.
  • Prepare verbal and written presentations to the investment committee in relation to proposed transactions and existing investments.
  • Oversee asset management of assigned existing property investments. As described above, Argosy follows a cradle-to-grave approach for investments, so this person will have responsibility for their transactions through their lifecycle. This will include maintaining and updating financial projections, communicating with joint venture partners, preparing asset reports, preparing property valuations, property site inspections, market research, and analysis.
  • Monitor relevant industry research to inform investment strategy and formulating actionable investment strategies.
  • Prioritize success of the overall team and contributes to a positive team culture.
  • Support development of associates for increased functionality and responsibility.
Candidate Qualifications and Experience

Experience: A minimum of 7 to 10 years of relevant real estate investment experience. Education: Bachelor’s degree required. Master’s degree preferred, but not required.

Professional Experience
  • Strong understanding of all aspects of real estate investment, financing, acquisition and disposition processes, including but not limited to market analysis, financial analysis, property valuation, and capital markets.
  • Experience sourcing, negotiating, and closing agreements with joint venture partners.
  • Experience with, and understanding of the investment drivers of ground-up development and/or significant repositioning projects preferred.
  • Experience with multiple asset types preferred.
  • Experience in one or more of this position’s target markets is preferred. Ability to work on multiple deals in multiple markets is required
