Savills is looking for the a Research Director to join the Mid-Atlantic research team is seeking a Research Director to provide high-level analytics and insight for the office markets within the greater DC metro region. The Research Director will oversee all research, data aggregation and market analysis activities across the region and provide the firm’s advisors with vital information that helps to best serve current and prospective clients. This role is responsible for ensuring the quality of Savills’ data foundation, consulting with brokerage teams, providing customized research pieces and thought leadership, and working across departments to deploy and present data in a compelling way. Outstanding communication skills, both written and presentation, are required as this role will engage with clients on a regular basis. This is an ideal opportunity for a commercial real estate research professional with several years’ experience and a deep understanding of the DC metro office markets that is seeking to lead and grow in a best-in-class organization.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Proactively develop a detailed knowledge and understanding of the local commercial real estate market; serve as a market expert with the ability to communicate this expertise through both presentation and writing
  • Source, evaluate and analyze people and property data to best position the firm’s internal information foundation
  • Identify insights on market activity, conditions and trends to maintain competitive advantage through market expertise and analysis
  • Partner with the office’s brokerage, marketing, and graphics teams to contribute research insight to business development and client service efforts
  • Present to clients on the state of the market, changing trends and future market expectations
  • Develop strong rapport with Savills research counterparts nationally to exchange best practices and market moving data
  • Develop and leverage relationships with research peers and experts externally in the local real estate community in order to exchange information and keep abreast of relevant industry developments
  • Respond to all requests for data and information in a timely and accurate manner
  • Other tasks and responsibilities as assigned by the head of research and brokerage teams

    Experience/Education/Qualifications:
  • 5-10 years of related real estate and/or research and analysis experience
  • Experience in industry research departments a plus
  • Bachelor’s Degree required
  • Strong problem-solving, analytic and data visualization skills
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Accomplished with Microsoft Office suite, internet research, and various other types of analytical and presentation software; Tableau, Alteryx and Salesforce experience preferred
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills; ability to multi-task and prioritize workload under pressure
  • Self-starter who works independently and thinks proactively and strategically
