Portfolio Analyst

Ullico, Inc., one of the nation’s largest sources for real estate first mortgage financing, is actively recruiting a Portfolio Analyst to join a group that manages a $3.8 billion portfolio. Ullico’s Real Estate Investment Group offers construction and permanent debt financing for commercial real estate. This position reports to the Vice President, Credit Management, Real Estate Investment Banking Group and is located in our Silver Spring, Maryland office.

The successful candidate most possess the following:

· Six months of experience with financial concepts and quantitative analytics along with the ability to utilize techniques to evaluate financial decisions, including the time value of money, asset valuation, discounted cash flow, and capital structure used to monitor the portfolio.

· Ability to utilize econometric analysis techniques through data management and financial modeling of market data.

· Knowledge of SQL/SAS programming, skills in handling and displaying data, translation of data into well-formulated statistical models, the interpretation of model estimation results and derivation of the output.

· The ability to interpret data, prepare reports and presentations (i.e. mark to market valuations, portfolio performance, liquidity management, presentations, et. al.) and convey information to internal senior management and external business leaders.

· An understanding of the role of capital markets in an investment portfolio and the tradeoff between risk and potential return including basics of investment, portfolio theory, asset pricing theories and the application of asset pricing models.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: 
Master’s degree in Finance, Economics, or related field and at least six months of experience in commercial real estate loan underwriting, including financial/credit analysis, discounted cash flow and net present value modeling are required. Essential to the position are an intermediate/advanced knowledge of Excel, SQL, VBA and ARGUS financial modeling. All candidates that are being considered must take a financial modeling exercise.
