The Capital Management Internship will be an immersive program to support our Debt Capital Markets team. We are seeking a candidate that is highly driven, motivated by the concept of continuous learning, and possesses a fundamental knowledge of real estate capital markets.
Within the Capital Management division, Debt Capital Markets manages the financing process on behalf of Amherst’s own $2 billion+ balance sheet and across its ventures and funds. Core products include secured warehouse financing, senior and mezzanine term financing, public and private securitizations, and seller financing. The team is seeking a highly motivated individual to learn and understand the structuring and execution process of debt financing in both the private and public markets.
Responsibilities:
• Support Debt Capital Markets team in risk evaluation, transaction negotiations and internal processes to optimize pricing and structuring.
• Provide analysis to help determine appropriate financing terms and covenants
• Assist and learn about preparing presentation and marketing materials, including request for proposals, lender diligence, model outputs, and structuring objectives for lenders, senior leadership, and Board of Directors
• Develop an understanding of structured finance transactions, including valuating, accounting, third party engagements
• Learn to prepare client presentations for meetings with investment partners and potential lenders
• Validate accuracy of reporting for internal and external stakeholders
• Work on projects as assigned but also have strategic responsibility of certain functions and responsibilities of the team

Requirements:
• Pursuing Bachelor's Degree in a quantitative field; Finance, Math, Business, Economics, etc.
• Strong experience with Excel modeling, how to read financials
• Microsoft Office skills, specifically with Excel and PowerPoint
• Strong organizational and time management skills
• Basic project management abilities
• Proven ability to manage multiple simultaneous projects and tasks
• Ability to work independently and in a team environment
• Effective interpersonal and written/verbal communication skills
