Position Summary:

The CFO is responsible for directing the fiscal functions of the Company in accordance with generally accepted accounting and financial principles and in keeping with the goals and objectives of the organization. Provides strategic financial input and leadership on issues affecting the Company.

 

This position is hybrid role based in Port Washington, NY.

 

Position Overview:

  • Provides timely, accurate and actionable financial analysis and forecasting that will assist the CEO and members of the executive team in making sound business decisions. Evaluates and advises on the impact of long-range planning and introduction of new programs/strategies.
  • Provides leadership and guidance to the finance and accounting teams for the real estate business.
  • Oversees the preparation of financial reports for a variety of entities mainly focused on Real Estate and be responsible for the reporting requirements required by our financial institutions
  • Participates in the structuring and negotiation of real estate acquisitions, and financing strategies
  • Reviews policies, procedures, systems, and workflow on a regular basis. Develops, updates, implements, and enforces as necessary to improve operational efficiencies, reduce operating expenses and further Company goals.
  • Improves the budgeting process through education of managers on financial issues impacting their budgets.
  • Develops a reliable cash flow projection process and reporting mechanism which includes minimum cash threshold to meet operating needs of the Company.
  • Optimizes the handling of bank relationships and initiate appropriate strategies to enhance cash position and overall performance of the Company
  • Develops and implements strategies to improve the timeliness and accuracy of the Company’s cash flow and management of the billing process.
  • Evaluates the Accounting and Treasury structure and team plan for continual improvement of the efficiency and effectiveness of the group as well as providing individuals with professional and personal growth where possible.
  • Manages Controller, Treasurer, and accountants. May also directly supervise administrative and support employees.
  • The CFO will report to and work closely with the CEO & COO.

Qualifications:

  • Strong managerial skills including delegating, planning, prioritizing, facilitating and process improvement; quality management; makes self available to staff; provides regular performance feedback; and develops subordinates’ skills and encourages growth.
  • Extensive knowledge of established accounting and financial policies, procedures, practices, and systems, particularly in relation to the real estate industry.
  • Experience with tax compliance and tax regulations.
  • Experience in structuring and negotiating large scale real estate transactions.
  • Able to oversee vendors, including third party service providers
  • Able to create and comprehend complex financial and legal documents and reports.
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
  • Outstanding analytical, mathematical, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to multi-task and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Must work well under pressure and handle stressful situations in a professional manner.
  • Must be willing to “roll up your sleeves” and assist the team as needed
  • Highly experienced in MRI
  • Must be willing to embrace technology and automation to improve efficiency

 

Education and/or Experience:

Bachelor’s Degree (Master’s Degree preferred), with fifteen to twenty years of professional experience, preferably within the real estate industry. Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation required.
