The Senior Analyst, Investments will serve an integral role supporting BMC's efforts to grow cash flow and enhance the value of the fund through strategic acquisitions, dispositions, joint-venture investments, financing, operational improvements, and capital projects. Additionally, the position will support the Fund's annual valuation process, asset management function, internal and external reporting requirements, and other ad hoc projects. The successful candidate will have a solid knowledge of real estate valuation and financial modeling, a strong work ethic, the desire to achieve results, and the ability to thrive in a team environment. He or she will gain experience across various transaction and asset types, including office, land, industrial and multifamily deals. The Senior Analyst, Investments will report to the Senior Vice President, Investments, which together with an Analyst make up the Investments team at BMC. The Senior Analyst will also be encouraged to build relationships across the company and the industry.

Primary Responsibilities*

  • Assist in targeting, evaluating, financing and closing new investment opportunities.
  • Perform financial analysis/underwriting accurately, timely and largely autonomously.
  • Coordinate due diligence (from both sides of a transaction) including document production/receipt and extensive Q&A.
  • Prepare investment committee and asset management committee presentation materials, financing memos and other transaction documents.
  • Work closely with legal and other departments on closings, including ensuring accurate pro-rations, settlement statements, insurance coverage placement, and that conditions to closing are met.
  • Participate in the annual Fund valuation process, to include managing an external appraiser and performing internal valuations.
  • Prepare various quarterly and annual reports/projections on project or fund performance for internal and external use.
  • Perform periodic benchmarking and analysis of value-enhancement initiatives.
  • Monitor actual operations throughout the year compared to annual budgets.
  • Identify opportunities to enhance fund performance and value.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience

  • BA/BS preferably in Finance or Real Estate
  • 2+ years of related real estate modeling experience
  • Intermediate to Advanced Excel
  • Proficient in Argus
