As a growing and complex organization Gordon Brothers has an opening for an experienced Real Estate Investment Business Development, Managing Director to join our Real Estate team. The successful candidate will be responsible for leveraging their network of relationships in the retail/restaurant and other sectors to identify, access and win proprietary business opportunities for Gordon Brothers.  While this position is based in the Prudential Tower in the heart of the Back Bay and will report into the President, Real Estate, remote work will be considered.


Job Responsibilities/Essential Job Functions:

  • Identify and drive new business opportunities, source and secure new clients, expand market share, enhance our image in the marketplace, and identify potential opportunities for other divisions of Gordon Brothers
  • Build effective and collaborative relationships with key decision-makers within turnaround consulting, private equity, investment banking, lending, legal, accounting as well as selected operating companies
  • Participate in deal presentations and conduct face-to-face or virtual meetings with prospects
  • Work to expand personal networks of senior decision makers in the retail/restaurant sectors
  • Work with divisional leaders and BDOs to maximize cross-selling opportunities.
  • Engage and collaborate with other Gordon Brothers divisions, as needed, in order to provide existing/potential clients or referral partners with the most up to date industry/market knowledge and experience
  • Maintain a robust pipeline to meet or exceed established goals
  • Maintain accurate and timely client information in Salesforce including client histories, transaction histories, meetings/calendar, etc.
  • Participate in conferences, events and informal networks to develop, build and sustain a robust set of professional relationships and source opportunities (ICSC, NAIOP, TMA, SFNet, etc.)
  • Regularly and consistently use Salesforce to ensure that data reporting, customer information and sales activity/pipeline are up to date

 

Education, Experience:

  • BS/BA is required
  • 15 or more years of successful corporate business development experience, ideally in the retail and restaurant sectors  
  • Strong business relationships in the retail and restaurant sectors and a desire to expand and grow business relationships in other non-retail sector

 

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

  • Proven track record meeting and exceeding sales targets in a business development / new business environment
  • A solid business acumen and a clear understanding of “best approach” strategies to fully optimize opportunities
  • An entrepreneurial mindset, drive to deliver results, and strong worth ethic
  • Ability to make quick decisions, manage multiple projects, and establish priorities
  • Skilled in executing directives with minimal direct supervision
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills and a proven ability to collaborate effectively with others
  • Experience with Salesforce strongly preferred
  • Ability to travel 40% or more of the time and regularly entertain clients outside of traditional business hours
