JOB SUMMARY

This position will support the company’s investment and asset management departments through financial analysis, underwriting, market research, and reporting. The analyst will primarily support a team actively sourcing new acquisition and development opportunities for office and residential assets in the southeastern US and executing the business plans for those investments. From time to time, ad hoc analyses may be required to assist Development, Accounting, and Property Management divisions. The ideal candidate must be detail-oriented and able to manage varying tasks across numerous projects in a fast-paced environment.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Two to four years of relevant industry experience in commercial real estate, mortgage, or general financial analysis environment

  • Four-year Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, real estate, mathematics, or related discipline

  • High proficiency in Microsoft Excel—Excel test to be administered as part of the interview process

  • Must be technically proficient in the use of databases and be able to effectively identify what data from this system will be useful in preparing property or market-level analysis

  • Understanding of basic terminology relevant to real estate documents (leases, loan documents, appraisals), underwriting, and market analysis

  • Strong writing skills with the ability to communicate analytical and marketing data effectively

  • Familiarity with Argus Enterprise preferred

  • Strong attention to detail

  • Organizational and process skills to manage competing priorities while being able to meet deadlines

  • Periodic travel will be required

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Prepare pro forma and forecasting models including yield-on-cost, DCF, IRR, and NPV analyses

  • Identify risk exposure on new and existing investments as well as risk mitigants, and quantify the potential financial effects from these risks

  • Support due diligence of new acquisitions by maintaining deliverables checklists and organizing and reviewing diligence files

  • Support the leasing process by tracking and analyzing economic terms through lease negotiations

  • Become an expert on macro trends and economic drivers in the company’s target markets

  • Perform ad hoc analyses to help executives understand the financial effect of critical asset management decisions

  • Prepare brief reports on recent relevant news, announcements, and trends in target markets

  • Build asset-level analyses for new acquisitions and developments by creating sale comp, lease comp, and competitive set reports

  • Assist and/or lead the preparation of investor and lender placement memorandums

  • Provide support to Accounting and Property Management in the preparation of periodic investor reports for existing assets
