Duties and Responsibilities
- Prepare Balance Sheet reconciliations and supporting schedules. Analyze the Balance Sheet and Income Statement accounts for accuracy, identify, and explain any variances or unexplained items
- Complete all general ledger accounting such as accruing for property taxes, insurance, escrow disbursements, prepayments, amortization, depreciation, as well as other property expenses
- Distribute weekly cash sheet reports to management for monitoring cash position
- Review periodic reports of general ledger accounts to ensure accuracy and correct errors prior to close of accounting period
- Review and analyze transactions from Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable to ensure they have been well coded and recorded. Resolve and/or report discrepancies
- Assist Accounting Associates with properties as needed
- Help and provide guidance to Property Management by answering questions regarding monthly Financial Statements and other related matters
- Assist with operating cash accounts for assigned properties, including recording bank fees and bank reconciliation
- Responsible for month-end close accounting. Perform reclass and accruals requested by the Property Manager after careful review
- Assist with preparation of group consolidation and reporting
- Participate in the external audit process, including preparation of schedules for annual audit
- Identify and improve systems, processes and efficiencies
- Responsible for administering accounting procedures and monitoring internal controls
- Utilize accounting IT systems such as Yardi
- Other ad hoc projects as assigned in a timely manner
Requirements:
- Accounting: 5 Years
- Yardi Property Management Software experience preferred
- MS Office – Proficiency in Excel
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance preferred.
- Detail-oriented, strong organizational skills
- Ability to work independently, prioritize, and multi-task
- Be conscientious about achieving deadlines while maintaining accuracy
- Team player with a positive attitude, high ethical and moral standards
- Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
